Ink Trap

Typeface designers always take many factors in consideration when they create a new type. For exomple, some font has a feature called "ink trap", it's a small notch in the tight corner of a character, for example, the corners inside the M character. The reason behind this is, theses font was created for using in printed paper/newspaper, on these things, ink will continues to spread after printed, these notch will let the ink spreading in and filled them, if not, the character will look blobby and terrible.
